Additionally, it includes data about the intestinal permeability (passage of intestinal permeability markers fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC)-dextran and horseradish peroxidase (HRP), and transepithelial resistance measured by Ussing chamber experiments) and ion transport (short circuit current measured by Ussing chamber experiments) of colonic biopsies collected from these 34 study participants pre- and post-exposure to butyrate in vivo.
