The project was the working title. The aim was to study primary student’s motoric conditions, interest and knowledge of sports in relation to their perception of gymnastics teaching and also impact from family, colleagues and the local community. Under 1972 planerades och igångsattes ett forskningsprojekt vid Lärarhögskolan i Göteborg. Projektet fick arbetsnamnet GAIS-projektet, Gymnastikaktivitet i skolan. Det hade till syfte att studera låg- och mellanstadieelevers motoriska förutsättningar, intresse för och kunskap om idrott i relation till deras uppfattning om gymnastikundervisningen samt familjens, kamraternas och det lokala samhällets påverkan.
