https://researchdata.se/en/catalogue Search results en Through analyses of questions used in existing perceived safety surveys, both strengths and weaknesses were identified, across four domains: trust, worry about victimization, behaviours related to worry about victimization, and perceived problem areas. Based on these findings, revised and supplementary survey items were developed and tested. This dataset contains responses to these survey items. Data collection was conducted between September and November 2025 and managed by the external survey institute, the Institute for Quality Indicators (Indikator Opinion); one municipality survey and one national panel survey. For the municipal survey, random samples were drawn from the Swedish population register. A total of 4,000 individuals aged 18–100 years were invited from four municipal areas (1,000 per area): Helsingborg South, Kungälv City, Stockholm Skarpnäck, and Tingsryd. The survey was distributed by post. Follow-up reminders were subsequently sent via Kivra (a secure Swedish digital mailbox service), renewed postal mailings, and SMS messages to individuals with registered mobile phone numbers. Respondents could choose to complete either a paper questionnaire or a web-based version using a personalized survey link. In addition to the municipal survey, data were collected through the nationwide panel maintained by the Institute for Quality Indicators. The panel sample was designed both to increase national coverage and to improve demographic representation through targeted oversampling of younger respondents and individuals with a foreign background. Specifically, recruitment aimed to include at least 500 randomly selected respondents, 250 respondents aged 30 years or younger, and 250 respondents with a foreign background. In total, the study comprises 2,727 respondents, with approximately equal numbers drawn from the municipal survey and the nationwide panel sample.
