      <title>The Student SOM Survey 2010</title>
<description>Since 1993, the SOM Institute, in collaboration with the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Gothenburg, has conducted a student survey. The primary aim of the survey has been to create time series that make it possible to follow how students at the faculty perceive their studies and their social study environment. Another aim is to identify students as a group, with a focus on, for example, social background, age, and the underlying reasons for starting their studies.

Through these time series, it is possible to identify trends and structural breaks among undergraduate and master’s students.

Purpose:

To find out how students feel about their education and the social environment at the University of Gothenburg</description>

      <title>The Student SOM Survey 1995</title>
<description>This is the third study in the collection of Student-SOM surveys. The aim of these studies is to shed light on opinions and habits of the student generation of today. The questionnaire - mainly a replication of the questionnaire used in Student-SOM 1994 - included questions about study programme, mass media, politics and society, energy, nuclear power and environment, leisure-time activities, and background. Additional questions dealt with the respondent´s opinion on a number of propositions about the development of mass media in Sweden, the cause of violence in society, and if the respondent ever thought of moving to another country. Furthermore the respondents had to state their opinion about a number of proposals put in the environmental debate. Respondents were also asked about their participation in the first Swedish election to the EU-parliament in the fall of 1995. Nonvoters were asked about the reason not to vote, and voters were asked if they used the possibility to vote for a specific person. The question dealing with qualities possessed by two leading politicians, Carl Bildt and Mona Sahlin, was put in two different versions; half of the respondents were asked about sixteen different qualities, while the other half were asked about six different qualities.

      <title>The Student SOM Survey 1994</title>
<description>This is the second study in the collection of Student-SOM surveys. The aim of these studies is to shed light on opinions and habits of the student generation of today. The questionnaire was divided into seven parts: mass media; politics and society; energy, nuclear power and environment; Sweden and the rest of the world; leisure-time activities; background; and study programme. It was mainly a replication of the questionnaire used in Student-SOM 1993. Additional questions dealt with the respondent´s opinion on newspapers publishing names in connection with crimes and accidents; Sweden´s future relation to the European Union; and the rights of various ethnical groups to look after their interests. For a number of various things like porno movies in television, flogging, mosques, homosexual teachers, etc. the respondents had to state if they were of the opinion that it should be allowed or not. The question about choice of political party was put in two different versions; half of the respondents were asked about the probability that they should vote for a particular political party during their lifetime, and the rest were asked about the probability that they should vote for a particular political party at the 1998 general election.
