      <title>Data for: Single-cell study of human ovarian response to phthalate exposure reveals glial cell susceptibility and disruption of adhesion and mitochondrial pathways</title>
      <description>Ovarian tissue explants from one individual were exposed to two MEHP concentrations an epidemiologically relevant 20.05 nM and a 1000-fold higher 20.05 µM or a DMSO control. After six days, single-cell RNA sequencing was performed on the cultured tissue samples using the 10x Genomics single-cell pipeline.

The dataset consists of 18 files in fastq format, compressed with GNUzip (gzip), one file in sha256 format and one file in xlsx format. The total size of the dataset is approximately 69 GB.</description>

      <title>Acute high-dose irradiation disrupts cell adhesion and Silk-Ovarioid formation in human primary ovarian cells</title>
      <description>The data repository is connected to a study that investigates the impact of X-ray treatment on primary ovarian cells (POCs) derived from cortex (cPOCs) and medulla (mPOCs) during in vitro culture. In total 50 samples collected from 5 patients were sequenced and 5 groups (i.e.,control_t1, control_t24, irradiated_t1, irradiated_t4, irradiated_t24) were included in the study.

RNA extraction was performed using the RNeasy Micro Kit (Qiagen, Germany) following the manufacturer’s instructions. Libraries were prepared using the Illumina Stranded mRNA Prep Ligation protocol (Illumina, USA) according to the manufacturer’s instruction, with 10 ng of RNA used as input. 

The dataset contains 100 fastq files from paired-end RNA sequencing, compressed with GNUzip (gzip). The dataset also contains one metadata file in xlsx format and one md5sum file in txt format. The total size of the dataset is approximately 300 GB.

Fastq files were trimmed using TrimGalore (version 0.6.1) to remove the low-quality reads before mapping. STAR aligner (version 2.7.11a) was used to map the trimmed fastq files to human genome hg38. The bam files were aligned using featureCount function in subread package (version 2.0.3) and annotated using UCSC gtf file. Processed data is deposited in GEO (GSE291604).</description>

      <title>Silk-Ovarioids: Establishment and characterization of human ovarian primary cells 3D-model system</title>
      <description>The samples in the dataset are connected to a study focusing on establishment of a long-term stable three-dimensional (3D) model of human primary ovarian cells for toxicological research. These samples are collected from patients undergoing elective abdominal surgery. The cortex and medulla were separated and dissociated into single-cell suspension using mechanical and enzymatic methods, followed by culture in 2D and 3D systems. In total 75 samples are included in the dataset (36 samples from cortex and 39 from medulla). Among these samples, 29 tissue samples were used as reference in the comparison of 2D culture vs tissue and 3D culture vs tissue. 16 samples from 2D culture were used as the reference in the comparison of 3D vs 2D. The rest 30 samples were from 3D culture (Silk-Ovarioid).

RNA extraction of tissues and 2D cultured cells was performed using RNeasy Mini Kit (Qiagen, Germany). Total RNA of Silk-Ovarioids samples was extracted using RNeasy Micro Kit (Qiagen, Germany). Only samples with RIN values &gt; 9 were used for library preparation. Libraries were prepared using Illumina Stranded mRNA Prep Ligation protocol (Illumina, USA) using 10 ng RNA as input. Pooled libraries were sequenced on Illumina NovaSeq 6000 platform. Fastq files were mapped to human genome GRCh38 using STAR (version 2.7.10b). subread package (version 2.0.1) was used to align the bam files using featureCount function. After import the raw data matrix into Rstudio, technical replicates were collapsed using DESeq2 collapseReplicates function. GRCh38 (Homo_sapiens.GRCh38.108.chr.gtf) was used for mapping and alignment.

The dataset consists of 150 files in fastq format, compressed with GNUzip (gzip), one file in txt format and one file in xlsx format. The total size of the dataset is approximately 400 GB.</description>

      <title>Swedish Contextual Database for The Swedish Generations and Gender Survey and The International Generations and Gender Programme</title>
      <description>The Swedish Contextual Database provides a large number of longitudinal and regional macro-level indicators primarily assembled to facilitate research on the effects of contextual factors on family and fertility behavior. It can be linked to the individual-level data of the Swedish GGS as well as to data of other surveys. It can also be used for other types of research and for teaching. The comparative data will also be integrated into the international Contextual Database of the GGP. The contextual data are available open-access through the GGP webpage: www.ggp-i.org and through the webpage of Stockholm University Demography Unit www.suda.su.se

Purpose:

The Swedish contextual database (CDB) was established to accompany the Swedish Generations and Gender Survey (GGS) and to complement the contextual database of the international Generations and Gender Programme (GGP).

The Swedish Contextual Data Collection is available in xls format. In addition to that, the internationally comparative data will be integrated into the Contextual Database (CDB) of the GGP in 2018. These data can be exported in other formats, as well (e.g. CSV, XML). The indicators can also be accessed in a single file in STATA or SPSS format. The data can be matched with the Swedish GGS. International regional coding schemes are also supported, such as NUTS, OECD.</description>

      <title>The meaning of a bad childbirth experience: A qualitative study with women in Rwanda</title>
      <description>Objective
Being pregnant and giving birth is a pivotal life event and one that a woman ordinarily remembers for most of her life. A negative childbirth experience can affect a woman’s health well beyond the episode of the labour and birth itself. This study explored the meaning of a bad childbirth as experienced by women who have given birth in Rwanda. 

Methods 
In a cross-sectional household study conducted in Northern Province and in Kigali City, the capital of Rwanda, a structured questionnaire was answered by women who had given birth 1 to 13 months earlier. One question answered by 898 women asked them to rate their overall experience of childbirth from 0 (very bad) to 10 (very good). Of these, 28 women (3.1%) rating the childbirth experience as bad (&lt; 4) were contacted for individual interviews. Seventeen of these women accepted to participate in individual in-depth interviews.  The texts were analysed with a reflective lifeworld approach. 

Results
The essential meaning of a “bad” childbirth experience was that the women had been exposed to disrespectful care, constituted by neglect, verbal or physical abuse, insufficient information, and denial of their husband as a companion. The actions of carers included abandonment, humiliation, shaming and insult, creating feelings of insecurity, fear and distrust in the women. Two of the women reported no bad experience of care; their low rating was related to having suffered from medical complications. 

Conclusion 
It is challenging that the main finding is that women are exposed to disrespectful care. In efforts to provide a quality and equitable maternal health care system in Rwanda, there is need to focus on activities to implement respectful, evidence-based care for all. One such activity is to develop and provide education programmes for midwives and nurses about professional behaviour when caring for and working with women during labour and birth.

The aim of the study is to explore the meaning of a bad childbirth as experienced by women who had given birth in Rwanda.</description>

      <title>Generations and Gender Programme (GGP) - Sweden Wave 1</title>
      <description>The Generations and Gender Programme (GGP) is a Social Science Research Infrastructure that provides micro- and macro-level data which significantly improve the knowledge base for social science. The Infrastructure is run by institutes with strong traditions in academic and policy-related research on population and family change and on survey methodology.

The survey was conducted in two waves. Up till now, 19 countries have conducted at least one wave of data collection, with an average of 9,000 respondents per country. The Generations and Gender Programme is unique in its large coverage of Central and East European countries. Respondents are interviewed every 3 years and changes in the family life are recorded. GGP covers the whole adult life-course, between the age of 18 and 79. The Programme’s main goal is to provide data that can contribute to enhanced understanding of demographic and social developments and of the factors that influence these 
developments, with particular attention given to relationships between children and parents (generations) and those between partners (gender). A broad array of topics including fertility, partnership, the transition to adulthood, care duties and economic activities are covered by the survey.

Purpose:

The GGP aims to improve understanding of demographic and social changes and the factors influencing them. The GGP is particularly important for the study of relationships between children and parents (generations) and between couples (gender).</description>

      <title>Children and Young i Scania 2016</title>
      <description>In the spring of 2016, public health survey  "Barn och Unga i Skåne 2016" was conducted  among school children in grade 6, grade 9 and high school grade 2, in all 33 municipalities in Skåne. Almost 27,500 students answered the questionnaire. 

The study was conducted by Region Skåne in cooperation with the Municipality association of Skåne. The students answered the questionnaires anonymously, and questions were asked about school, family, health, leisure habits, diet, alcohol and tobacco. A number of the questions are also included in various national surveys, allowing for national comparisons with similar age students.

Purpose:
The purpose of the Public Health Survey "Children and Youth in Scania" is to get a current picture of the living conditions, lifestyles, social factors and health among children and adolescents in southern Sweden today. How our children and young people are doing and living are also important for the future of public health in Scania. Knowledge of health determinants, distribution of health in the population and the current state of health of our children and young people in Scania is necessary to work effectively in public health and in order to monitor progress over time</description>

      <title>Risk factors among consecutive breast cancer patients</title>
      <description>The collection took place between 1980 and 2013, and the cohort consists of 1800 individuals. The study population is based on women with consecutive breast cancer, who all visited the same doctor at the oncology department at Skåne University Hospital in Lund. All patients were interviewed by the doctor and the questions covered areas such as occupation, smoking, previous diseases, previous breast cancer screening, previous pregnancies, breast feeding, age at first menstrual period and menopause and the use of contraceptives. Information about the tumor and date of diagnosis were collected from pathology reports and patient records. For about 30 to 40% of the individuals tumor samples are collected. As controls, various control populations have been used, eg healthy controls from Dalby primary care (an urban area of the municipality of Lund), women at Scania University Hospital with benign breast disease and controls from the MISS cohort (SND study No. EXT 0102).

Purpose:

To study the risk factors for women with consecutive breast cancer.</description>

      <title>BIG3</title>
      <description>BIG3 is a Scanian research project in which the name BIG3 is aiming at three major diseases: chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), cardiovascular diseases and lung cancer. The overall goal of BIG3 is to understand the mechanisms underlying these diseases in order to develop new treatments that can lead to earlier, better and more accurate diagnosis for better and more individualized treatment. BIG3 is an open prospective longitudinal cohort study in Sweden. 
As a first step, around 100 000 people in Scania between 45 and 75 years have the opportunity to answer a questionnaire about lifestyle, living environment and tobacco habits. Then about 10 000 individuals from the respondents will be summoned to undergo examinations. These include ECG, CT scan of the heart and lungs, pulmonary function tests and blood tests. The blood samples will be analyzed both directly for a number of markers and also stored in a biobank for later analysis. The goal is to try to get about 50% of smokers in the cohort. 

Ultimately, the study aims to find out which individuals that are at greater risk of developing one or more of the three diseases and why some individuals seem to be protected.

Purpose:
BIG3 aims to increase understanding and to reduce morbidity / mortality in chronic diseases such as COPD, lung cancer and cardiovascular diseases, and to improve the care and quality of life for individuals with these disorders.</description>
