Road safety survey 2003

This is the 23th study in a series of annual surveys on road safety conducted since 1981. The study is conducted by Statistics Sweden on behalf of the Swedish National Road Administration, which had the overall responsibility for road safety in Sweden in 2003. Today the study is conducted on behalf of the Swedish Transport Administration.

The study aims to identify and analyse traffic safety statistics. This is done by a written questionnaire directed to a stratified sample of the population. The study from 2003 had a 70,4 percent response rate and a sample of 12 624 randomly selected people aged between 15 and 84 years.

The questions in the study include, for example, traffic behaviour and traffic patterns; attitudes to road safety and traffic rules, the relation between alcohol and traffic and child safety in traffic. Both motor traffic, bicycle and foot traffic is concerned. A total of 23 questions are used, including descriptive questions, estimation questions and attitude questions.

Purpose:

The survey aims to identify and analyse traffic safety statistics.

The study aims to identify and analyse traffic safety statistics. This is done by a written questionnaire directed to a stratified sample of the population. The study from 1993 had a 77 percent response rate and a sample of 4 800 randomly selected people aged between 15 and 74 years.

The questions in the study include, for example, traffic behaviour and traffic patterns; attitudes to road safety and traffic rules, the relation between alcohol and traffic and child safety in traffic. Both motor traffic, bicycle and foot traffic is concerned. A total of 29 questions are used, including descriptive questions, estimation questions and attitude questions.

This dataset presents the concentrations of a wide range of stormwater pollutants accumulated in filter materials and forebays of 29 bioretention systems having been in long-term operation for urban stormwater treatment in Ohio, Michigan, and Kentucky (USA). The study investigates pollutants including metals, microplastics, and organic micropollutants (PAHs, phthalates, alkyl phenols, PCBs, as well as 35 PFASs and their precursors).

Riksmaten children 2003

A national food survey was carried out during 2003 on children 4 year old and school children in grade 2 and in grade 5. The method was an open and estimated food diary over four consecutive days. All days were evenly represented in the survey. The food diary was filled in by the children or with the help of parents or carer. Portion sizes and amounts of all food and drink eaten by the children were estimated with the help of a picture book. It was also noted when and where food was eaten as well as the fat content, mode of preparation, certain additives and brand name. Intake of supplements and level of physical activity was also recorded. In addition, an optically readable questionnaire contained questions about weight, height, parents’ education and profession, ethnic background and regional residence.

Children 4 year old were randomly sampled from a stratified sample of municipalities representative of Sweden. School children were sampled on the basis of school classes. The survey took place during spring and autumn 2003. The sample size of children 4 year old was 924 of which 590 fulfilled the survey. 1 209 children in grade 2 were sampled of which 889 fulfilled the survey and 1 290 children in grade 5 were sampled of which 1 016 fulfilled the survey. Children 4 year old dropped out due to time constraints or that day-care institutions did not want to participate. School children dropped out because it was too difficult, they forgot or did not have time.

Purpose:
The main purpose was to increase the knowledge about what children in the studied ages are eating and drinking, examine meal patterns, energy and nutrient intake, and also identify possible associations between eating habits and background factors.

REBUS-93 meant that data collected on the work, leisure and family situation of the REBUS survey 1969/70, together with retroactively collected information on physical and psychosocial working conditions for the years 1970 to 1993 could be tested as independent factors for musculoskeletal morbidity, mental symptoms and low functionality 24 years later, i.e. a lifetime perspective could be put on found relationships.

Purpose:
The purpose of REBUS-93 was to identify risk factors for musculoskeletal disorders, mental symptoms and low physical function.

Species distribution modelling data for 23 dead-wood inhabiting bryophytes

These data consist of (inferred) presence-absence records for 23 dead-wood inhabiting bryophytes in Sweden and the associated environmental variables at each data point at the 100 m grid cell resolution. The data were applied to fit single species distribution models, and multi-species predictive fourth-corner models.

Full details of data compilation, sources and application can be found in:
