Natural radioactivity and radiocesium in perch (Perca fluviatilis)

Activity concentration of natural radioactivity (238U, 234U, 226Ra, 210Po) and 137Cs in organs and tissue of wild European perch from lake Fiolen and lake Fysingen. The activity is showed in Bq/kg in fresh weight.

The samples of European perch (Perca fluviatilis) consisted of 39 individuals caught in Lake Fiolen and 95 individuals caught in Lake Fysingen during 2020. The sample collection was performed by the Swedish Museum of Natural History and the samples were provided as a loan from their sample bank Environmental Specimen Bank.

The data consists of the mean measurements of the radioactive elements in different anatomical regions of the perch samples. Cesium-137 content could not be measured in the fins of the samples from Lake Fysingen, resulting in a missing value.

The data is available as an Excel file and as a semicolon-separated .csv.

Chaguaceda et al. (2020) Oecologia dataset

This dataset contains a series of variables over the ontogeny of a polymorphic perch (Perca fluviatilis) that live in pelagic and littoral habitats. The variables include: body size, growth, condition factor, C and N stable isotopes, diet estimations and % of different fatty acids in the dorsal muscle of perch. It also shows the isotope values of the food sources that were used as endpoints in the isotope mixing model. The dataset provides metadata of each variable.

The dataset was originally published in DiVA and moved to SND in 2024.

Effects on the food-web structure and bioaccumulation patterns of organic contaminants in a climate-altered Bothnian Sea mesocosms

The data originates from a mesocosm-experiment on the food web from the Baltic sea (from plankton to fish). The food web was exposed for organic contaminants and treated with different scenarios mimicing future climate changes (temperature- and dissolved organic carbon-treatments). The data files contains information on water chemistry and biological responses over time, as well as data specifically on fish survival and organic contaminant concentrations in fish and water.
