Technical information about this website’s accessibility

This website is partially compliant with the Swedish accessibility regulations, due to the non-compliances listed below.

Non-accessible content

We strive to make researchdata.se as accessible as possible for all users, but we are aware that there are some accessibility problems with the website. We are working to solve the issues and improve accessibility. The issues we have identified are listed below.

Issues

  • Insufficiently labelled filters for screen readers: On the catalogue filter page, it may be difficult for screen reader users to understand that it is a search filter. Additionally, there is no support for announcing the number of results for each specific filter.
  • Insufficient colour contrast in the filter: The contrast between the placeholder text and background, as well as the numbers showing the number of results, does not meet accessibility requirements.
  • Third-party maps cannot be displayed: Our map, which is provided by a third-party service, does not work for screen reader users.
  • Lack of language indication: When individual words on a page differ from the main language, there is no information about the language change. This can cause issues for screen readers, which may read the words with an incorrect pronunciation.
  • Inaccessible documents: Some PDF and Word documents are not correctly tagged, meaning that the content is not fully accessible to assistive technologies.
  • Illogical focus order: On landing pages for datasets and collections, the focus order does not follow a consistent or clear sequence, making navigation difficult for users relying on assistive technologies.
  • Unclear links: Document links and links to external websites are not always marked with icons or descriptive texts indicating where they lead or if they open in a new window.
  • Lack of indicators for active pages and filters: Active links and filters are not correctly marked, making it difficult for screen readers to inform users which page or filter is active.
  • Hard-to-read text on images: In some places, text is placed on top of images, making it difficult to read.
  • No status updates for the basket: When interacting with the basket (e.g., adding or removing items), there are no status messages informing screen readers of the changes.
  • Insufficient colour contrast on links: The colour of some links does not provide enough contrast between foreground and background, making them difficult to see for users with visual impairments.

With this list, we want to be transparent and provide information about the areas we need to improve. Our goal is to resolve these issues and ensure an inclusive user experience. We appreciate your understanding and welcome feedback to further enhance the website’s accessibility.
