Manage data
If we want research data to be possible to understand, share, and reuse, they have to be managed in a structured and sustainable way throughout the research process. Functional research data management involves handling data through all stages of the data life cycle – planning, collection, processing, analysis, preservation, sharing, and reusing research data.
On these pages, we have gathered useful information about how to manage, preserve, and make research data accessible for reuse.
Reuse and cite data
Reuse research data to complement your own results, explore new questions, or analyse data from multiple sources. Learn how to manage terms of use and to cite research data properly.
Organize data
Organize research data carefully to facilitate traceability and collaborations. Learn how to use intuitive folder structures, track document changes, and protect the data during your work.
To stay on track with data management through an entire research project, it is useful to create a data management plan, or DMP. Many Swedish and international research funding organizations also require that projects that apply for and receive funding have a DMP, for example the European Research Council (ERC), the Swedish Research Council (VR), and Formas. SND has developed a checklist for data management plans that you can use to select relevant content to start creating your DMP.
