Blad och barr samlades in från minst tre träd av varje art i Göteborgsregionen, sydvästra Sverige. De torkades och maldes. Därefter analyserades de med avseende på innehåll av kvicksilver och kväve. Dessutom användes en del av de insamlade bladen/barren för att bestämma bladmassa (torrvikt) per bladyta (LMA).
