Research data for the literature review “Advances and future perspectives on electrodialysis for sustainable critical raw material refining”
https://doi.org/10.5878/gmb1-qj41
The dataset contains research data collected and structured for a literature review on electrodialysis for the sustainable extraction and recovery of critical raw materials. The material includes bibliographic information, extracted study data, search strategies, and screening data from literature searches conducted in Scopus and Web of Science.
The dataset consists of multiple CSV files, including: studies with bibliographic metadata and DOI, variables related to critical raw materials, electrodialysis techniques, membrane types, feed materials, methods, and results, documentation of search strategies and search strings, and a codebook with variable definitions.
The data were processed through manual screening, categorization, and extraction from published scientific articles. No specialized software is required to open the files beyond standard software capable of handling CSV files.

Description of the mode of collection:
Data were collected through literature searches in the Scopus and Web of Science databases. Searches were performed in titles, abstracts, and keywords using predefined search strings related to electrodialysis and critical raw materials. Only peer-reviewed research articles were included.
Relevant studies were identified through manual screening and evaluation of titles, abstracts, and full texts. Bibliographic information and variables related to, for example, critical raw materials, electrodialysis techniques, membrane types, feed materials, methods, and results were manually extracted and structured into CSV files.

Geographic description:
The dataset includes scientific studies from multiple geographic regions and countries and is not limited to a specific geographic area. The studies address electrodialysis for extraction, separation, and recovery of critical raw materials from sources such as industrial process streams, mining-related materials, battery waste, and wastewater streams. Data were collected from international scientific literature indexed in Scopus and Web of Science.
