Axel W. Erikssons Egg Collection at Vänersborg Museum

A collection of eggs from Southwest Africa. The collection comprises specimens from 96 bird species and one crocodile egg, and includes various descriptions of eggs, nests, and nesting sites. It was assembled between 1876 and 1887 by Axel Wilhelm Eriksson (1846–1901)—a resident of Vänersborg and a renowned ornithologist—who also donated the Vänersborg Museum’s extensive collection of Southwest African birds, bird eggs, mammals, insects, and ethnographic artifacts.
