Esbo youth survey 1984
https://doi.org/10.5878/j68g-ma62
The sample consists of all school children in class 9 of the compulsory school system in the Esbo (Espoo) municipality, outside of Helsingfors (Helsinki) in Finland. The questionnaire was distributed in March, 1984, through the school authorities of Esbo, and this was practically done by the teachers of civics and history in the class rooms, a procedure which secured a rapid gathering of the 1 504 filled in questionnaires. Pupils that were ill or absent for other reasons were not included, and no attempts were made to make them participate at a later time. Question 52 in the questionnaire provides a hint about the extent of absence from school for the sample as a whole. Socially the sample is skewed. The majority of the respondents came from upper-middle class families, with fathers and mothers being economists, medical doctors, computer technologists, TV-people, etc.
