Data for: Road verges are corridors and roads barriers for the movements of flower-visiting insects
https://doi.org/10.5878/h758-5n57
This publication makes part of the research project GINFRA – green rights-of-way infrastructure for biodiversity and ecosystem services. The aim of the project is to quantify whether linear infrastructure habitats (road verges, power line corridors, etc) support biodiversity by assessing the influence of the amount of this habitats in the landscape and their contribution to landscape connectivity.
The linked data was collected by experimentally tracking the movements of flower-visiting insects using fluorescent dye placed along the road verges and adjacent habitat of 20 sites that varied in the number of vehicles per day and on the habitat quality of the road verges. The data set consists of 240 observations. The first 120 observations correspond to the colour blue and the last 120 to the colour red.
