Practices and knowledge related to antibiotics and antimicrobial resistance among Vietnamese veterinary drug shop workers
Antibiotic use in livestock production is extensive globally, and it is generally accepted that antibiotic use is closely linked to the development of antimicrobial resistance. In many low- and middle-income countries, antibiotics are sold to farmers over-the-counter, who then become very dependent on the salesperson’s knowledge and advice regarding the treatment. To increase the understanding of the salespersons’ impact on antibiotic use in livestock farms in Vietnam, a survey-based study was performed among 50 veterinary drug shop workers in Thai Nguyen province in northern Vietnam. The questionnaire contained 44 questions covering several aspects, such as routines and advice when selling antibiotics, as well as knowledge about antibiotics and resistance. The dataset consists of 129 columns and 52 rows. Variable names and answers are coded, and explanations can be found in a separate file, ”Veterinary_drug_shops_Vietnam_2024_explanations”. The questionnaire can be found in the file ”Veterinary_drug_shops_Vietnam_2024_questionnaire”.
