Description of the mode of collection:
Measurement of fuel heights and fire cover. Fuel height was measured by using a folding ruler to measure the height (cm) of the majority (80%) of the dry grass swards in nine evenly distributed points. These nine measurements was then avareaged to a mean for each plot. Fire coverage was measured by a visual evaluation right after each burning took place and was measured in percent of the whole plot that was burned.

Description of the mode of collection:
Inventory of plant species. In two randomly chosen points in each plot, we put out a 45x60 cm quadrant and noted all herbaceous species and their coverage in percentage of the quadrants. To evaluate differences in vegetation structure among treatments further, we classified the species found according to the following plant life-forms: hemicryptophytes, phanerophytes (large shrubs and trees) and chamaephytes (dwarf shrubs, such as Vaccinium spp.). Hemicryptophytes were further subdivided into graminoids, forbs and ferns.

Description of the mode of collection:
Data collection using camera traps. The videos were analysed for both visitation (defined as the head located within the subplot boundaries) and grazing (defined as the head positioned close to the ground within the subplot boundaries). The total time in seconds spent by cattle on each activity (visitation and grazing) in each subplot (fire+herbivory and herbivory) per 1-minute video was recorded.
