Description of sampling:

The material has been analyzed during two occasions, the first analysis in connection with a master's thesis in osteoarchaeology (Gummesson 2008). The second analysis was done within the project "Spatial distribution of animal osteological material at Åloppe, Norrskog." Within the project, a spatial analysis of 17 selected units within the main area for the excavations was carried out (Almgren 1906, Lindquist 1916). Only the mammal material has been analyzed and no bird or fish bones are included in the analysis. Remains of small rodents have not been treated as these cannot be linked with certainty to the formation of the cultural layer. The material has been analyzed at the osteoarchaeological research laboratory at Stockholm University and its reference collections have been used. The database is in Swedish and Latin.
