Description of sampling:
The sample is based on the region specified in the ethics application, and a register of Swedish upper secondary schools from 2024 were used . The selection is also based on the fact that data were collected simultaneously for another study that aimed to include sports education at upper secondary level. Therefore, a purposive sampling approach was used, and a total of 42 schools offering sports education were contacted and provided with a QR code to share with all their students.

Ethical review information:
The ethical approval covered data collection for three studies in total, one of which is the methodological paper for which this dataset serves as the basis. Since the data collection involved young people aged 15–18 and included questions about health, approval from the ethics review board was required. No personal data were collected, but the ethics application specified that the data would not be shared outside the research group, as it is based on information from what is considered a sensitive group (young people). Due to this wording, there is therefore a restriction on data sharing, since this is what the authority’s decision was based on.
