Upper secondary students mathematics self-beliefs in a problem-solving context
https://doi.org/10.5878/y87v-t432
This dataset contains self-reported responses from 76 Swedish upper secondary students enrolled in an advanced mathematics course. The data focus on mathematics self-beliefs and engagement in a problem-solving context, along with related background variables such as legal gender and prior mathematics achievement. It is intended for research on motivation and performance in mathematics education. Refer to codebook.csv for variable descriptions and questionnaire items in Swedish and English. The dataset was prepared by merging raw data from two tests conducted two weeks apart. Student responses were matched using legal gender, mathematics class ID, problem-solving group ID, and prior mathematics grade. Factor scores were estimated from a unidimensional IRT model using Maximum A Posteriori (MAP) estimation and summarized by the median.
