Morphometric data for herring, sprat and three-spined stickleback from the Baltic Sea

https://doi.org/10.5878/ng42-dk75
Fish body shape (including shape of the swimbladder) is essential for calculating Target strength (TS) in the context of fish hydro-acoustic surveys. Correct TS data is required for unbiased abundance estimations and allows for remote target classification. The present work aims at describing the exact individual shape of small pelagic fish specimen in the Baltic Sea, which can be used in shape modelling and TS modelling. The dataset contains morphometric data for individual fish specimen (coordinates along the body and swim bladder) for Clupea harengus, Sprattus sprattus and Gasterosteus aculeatus, sampled in the Baltic Sea (ICES area 27) in 2020 - 2022.
