Population:
The 208 respondents represent 196 researchers from 27 higher education institutions across Sweden and 13 participants from a range of cultural heritage institutions, including museums (4), archives (7), libraries (1), and non-profit organizations (1). In the shared dataset, institutional affiliation is reported explicitly only for respondents who stated that they are affiliated with institutions hosting a Huminfra node, as this was a predefined response option in the survey. Respondents who selected “Other” and provided their institution in a free-text response are recorded as “Other” in the dataset. This approach was used to reduce the risk of identifying individual respondents, as several institutions are represented by only one respondent. The self-reported primary fields of research have been classified according to the system developed by Statistics Sweden (SCB). Based on this classification, the distribution is as follows: Humanities and the Arts: 47% (n = 96); Social Sciences: 36% (n = 75); Natural Sciences (Computer Science): 1% (n = 3); Interdisciplinary (Humanities and the Arts + Social Sciences): 7% (n = 15); Interdisciplinary (Humanities and the Arts + Computer Science): 3% (n = 6); Cultural heritage professionals: 6% (n = 13). The distribution of professional experience among respondents is as follows: 50% (n = 103) have 15 years or more of experience, 17% (n = 36) have 11–15 years, 14% (n = 30) have 6–10 years, and 19% (n = 39) have fewer than 6 years.

Description of sampling:
The sample is limited to professionals supported by the infrastructures Huminfra and DARIAH-SE. This primarily includes researchers in the humanities and the arts, as well as related fields such as the social sciences and computer science. The latter are often involved in collaborations within digital humanities. The sample also includes professionals working in the cultural heritage sector who are supported by Huminfra and DARIAH-SE.

Description of the mode of collection:
The survey was made available online in May 2025 using Microsoft Forms and closed on 30 September 2025. During the first dissemination phase, which ran from May to June 2025, the survey was distributed via Huminfra’s network mailing list and newsletter, sent to registrars at 37 Swedish higher education institutions, and disseminated to cultural heritage institutions through the KOD network (a network for cultural heritage and digitalization) and Centralmuseernas samarbetsråd’s network. A reminder to disseminate the survey, if no responses had been received from the respective institutions, was sent to registrars at the Swedish higher education institutions on 28 August 2025. In September 2025, the survey was further disseminated through Huminfra’s LinkedIn account and via the personal professional networks of Huminfra staff.
