https://doi.org/10.5878/3e25-9238
Data for the article "Episodic records of deep microbial methanogenesis throughout the Caledonian mountain range exhumation". Data from the COSC-2 borehole in central Sweden (63.3124° N, 13.5259° E) at an elevation of 320 m with a depth of 2276 m from the surface. Data encompasses mineral analysis, including isotopic, age of calcites using U-Pb, and clumped isotopic analysis of calcites. Fluid analysis include hydrogeochemistry, stable isotopes of water, gas composition and gas isotopic composition of hydrocarbons.

Description of the mode of collection:
Data was collected in the field and from drill cores. Fluid samples (groundwater and gas) were collected along different depths of the COSC-borehole utilizing a Leutert Positive Displacement Sampler (PDS). At 975 m depth the sampling was later repeated using packers and a pressurized in situ sampling device (PAKO). Pump samples were also taken from 40 m depth and spontaneously separated gas collected at the wellhead. Mineral samples were collected from open or sealed fractures.
