Zwoinska et al 2020 Heat-induced sterility data
https://doi.org/10.17045/STHLMUNI.12248576
Summary:
This data was used to assess how sublethal heat stress
during development impacted subsequent adult fertility and its plasticity, both
of which can provide the raw material for evolutionary responses to increased
temperature. We quantified phenotypic (and genetic) variation in fertility of
Drosophila melanogaster reared at standardized densities in three temperatures
(25, 27, 29°C) from a set of lines of the Drosophila Genetic Reference Panel
(DGRP).

We provide one excel (with six tabs) and 6 csv files. The
data in the excel is the same as the one provided in the 6 csv files.
TableS1_archival_data.xlsx
This data file has six tabs, each tab associated with a
dataset used in the analysis.
Tab: Male data raw (= Zwoinska20_malerawdata.csv)
This tab contains the raw data of male fertility at three
different developmental temperatures.
Table headers are explained below:
Batch = block
DGRP = DGRP line
Temperature = developmental temperature experienced
Vial = vial where each pair was kept
Larvae = 1, if larvae present; 0, if no larvae present
Tab: Male data (= Zwoinska20_maledata.csv)
This tab contains compacted data per DGRP line from the male
fertility assay at three different developmental temperatures, including
inversions and intercepts + slopes extracted from statistical models. Table
headers are explained below:
DGRP Line = line number
LineNo = abbreviated line number
Reproduced 25°C = all vials in that block (batch) which at
least one larva was found; same explanation for columns "Reproduced
27" and "Reproduced 29"
All 25°C = total number of males (vials) assayed for that
line in that batch (block); same explanation for columns "Reproduced
27" and "Reproduced 29"
Batch = block number
inv columns are the inversion status of each line for each
of the main inversions characterized in the DGRP; ST = standard, INV =
inversion. ST/INV = unfixed status in the line
wolb = wolbachia status of each line; y = infected, n = not
infected
Intercepts columns are the derived intercepts for each
temperature using a random slopes model as described in the text
Slopes is the derived slope across temperatures using a
random slopes model as described in the text
Tab: Canton S male data (= Zwoinska20_CSmaledata.csv)
This tab contains data from assaying Canton S used to
account for variation across blocks. Table headers are explained below:
Batch = block
CScase25 = Canton S (CS) case (number of vials with at least
one larva) at 25°C; same explanation for column "CScase29"
CStotal25 = Canton S (CS) total (total number of vials
assayed) at 25°C; same explanation for column "CStotal29)
CSprop25 = CScase25/CStotal25; same explanation for
"CSprop29"
Tab: Female data raw (= Zwoinska20_femalerawdata.csv)
This tab contains the raw data from assaying female
fertility at three different temperatures for DGRP lines assigned as High or
Low (see text for description) for male fertility performance across
temperatures. Table headers are explained below:
Batch = block
DGRP = DGRP line
LH_code = whether the assayed line is considered to be a
High (H) performing male line or a Low (L) performing male line
Temperature = developmental temperature experienced
Vial = vial where each pair was kept
Larvae = 1, if larvae present; 0, if no larvae present
Tab: Female data (= Zwoinska20_femaledata.csv)
This tab contains compacted data per line from the female
fertility assay at three different temperatures for DGRP lines assigned as High
or Low (see text for description) for male fertility performance across
temperatures. Table headers are explained below:
Batch = block
LH_code = whether the assayed line is considered to be a
High (H) performing male line or a Low (L) performing male line
DGRP = DGRP line
Temperature = developmental temperature experienced
case = number of vials with at least one larva
total = total number of vials (females) assayed
Tab: Canton S female data (= Zwoinska20_CSfemaledata.csv)
This tab contains data from assaying Canton S used to
account for variation across blocks. Table headers are explained below:
Batch = block
CScase25 = Canton S (CS) case (number of vials with at least
one larva) at 25°C; same explanation for column "CScase29"
CStotal25 = Canton S (CS) total (total number of vials
assayed) at 25°C; same explanation for column "CStotal29)
CSprop25 = CScase25/CStotal25; same explanation for
"CSprop29"
