Bellman

Carl Michael Bellman (1740-1795) was the most famous troubadour of Sweden. His most famous works are Fredman's Epistles and Fredman's Songs, in which he describes the lives and adventures of his semi-fictional friends on the streets and pubs of Stockholm, mixed with mythology and thoughts about life. Most of the melodies were taken from contemporary composers and folk tunes. In some cases, the origin of the melody is unknown – it might be some now forgotten composer, or it might be Bellman himself.
