We ran a scanning X-ray diffraction (XRD) experiment at NanoMAX, aimed at exploring and understanding the physical state of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) loaded into the pores of mesoporous magnesium carbonate (MMC) particles. By using a nanofocused X-ray beam, the experiment provided detailed insight into the physical state and spatial distribution of precipitated drugs and their interaction with MMC. Better understanding of drug precipitation mechanisms will contribute to the refinement of drug delivery systems and enhance therapeutic efficacy.
