This survey is the Swedish part of the 2014 'European Social Survey ' (ESS), and is focusing on democracy and personal and social well-being. The survey also includes data on media and social trust, politics, subjective well-being, household characteristics and socio-demographics as well as human values as part of the core module of ESS.
Purpose:
The European Social Survey (the ESS) is an academically-driven social survey designed to chart and explain the interaction between Europe's changing institutions and the attitudes, beliefs and behaviour patterns of its diverse populations.

Description of sampling:
Sampling frame used is the register of the population, which includes all individuals living in Sweden. The register is updated continuously. Individuals that do not reside on the address stated in the register will be traced through the use of complimentary registers. The sampling frame includes those living in institutions, since there is no way to filter them. Sampling procedure is one-stage equal probability sample without clustering. Fully random sample of individuals (equal probability selection) born before 15 years + at start of survey.
