Data for: Determinants of success of community forestry: Empirical evidence from Ethiopia. Biophysical Attributes Survey Data

https://doi.org/10.5878/93eh-kj05
This dataset is based on survey data collected from 110 community forests across four major regions of Ethiopia. The study aimed to empirically analyze the determinants of success in community forestry (CF), with a particular focus on identifying the key characteristics and factors that contribute to successful outcomes. Success was assessed primarily in terms of improvements in the subsistence and commercial value of community forests, while also considering the influence of ecological, social, and economic factors. This portion of the dataset (see https://researchdata.se/sv/catalogue/dataset/snd1262-1Opens in a new tab for Part 1) deals with the biophysical attributes of the community forests. It includes survey modules on: - Forest and woodlot characteristics. - Attributes of forest users. - General information about each forest or woodlot. - Costs and benefits associated with forest/woodlot use, including externalities. - Characteristics of individual species and plantings within the forest/woodlot. - Tree species composition (both planted and natural). - Indicators of forest outcomes. The questionnaire for this component focused on quantifiable information. The survey was carried out in 2012.
