SLU Aqua Institute of Freshwater Research National register of survey test-fishing - NORS

The NORS database contains data from standardised survey netfishing in Swedish lakes. The survey uses Nordic multi-mesh gillnets, a widely used method in Sweden to investigate fish fauna in lakes, since 2005 an European standard (EN 14757). Standardised survey netfishing catches most of the Swedish species, providing good estimates of species abundance and size distribution. NORS contains data from thousands of netfishing occasions, with earliest records from the 1950’s. NORS is administered by the Institute of Freshwater Research, Department of Aquatic Resources (SLU Aqua).SLU Aqua at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences is responsible for collecting and checking fish survey data generated by national and regional environmental monitoring programs on behalf of the Swedish Agency for Marine and Water Management. The surveys are performed with standardised methods. The purpose is to obtain data of high quality for research, national monitoring. The database also serves as a reference for local and regional evaluations. Data is available for the public on https://dvfisk.slu.se.
