Data for “Russian Converb Constructions Corresponding to Swedish Purposive för att ‘in order to’ + Infinitive Constructions”

https://doi.org/10.5878/9td4-d139

These data contain examples from translations between Russian and Swedish where a Swedish infinitive construction ["för att" 'in order to' + infinitive] with a purpose meaning corresponds to a Russian converb (i.e. adverbial participle) construction. The examples have been extracted from the Russian National Corpus RNC (ruscorpora.ru) by actively searching for this correspondence. Over 600 examples have been found where the requested correspondence can be demonstrated. The Russian converb constructions have two structural types: analytical [converb+ infinitive] and synthetic [converb only]. The correspondence in question is mainly found in Russian converbs of imperfective aspect. There are two files, one with examples with Russian converbs with imperfective aspect and one with Russian converbs with perfective aspect. The study mainly concerns converbs of imperfective aspect because there is a larger dataset of these. These have been annotated for various morphological and semantic features.
