Description of the mode of collection:
The datasets are based on data collected from field trials with settling panels, testing the effect of different concrete mixes on recruitment of benthic fauna. Recruited benthic organisms were identified and quantified using images and to some extent examined under stereo magnifier and microscope. No dissections or DNA samples were used for identifications, and the focus was on assigning the organisms to a species based on superficial characteristics to be able to derive diversity indices from the data. Documentation was done with a Canon EOS 5D Mark II, and both overview images and close-ups were taken to support identifications. Some organisms were documented under stereo magnifier. Images were processed in Fiji/ImageJ (version 2.14.0/1.54f) with the plug-ins Grid and Cell Counter to quantify coverage and/or abundances.

Geographic description:
The rack with settling panels were deployed at a depth of 94 m just south of a coral mound with know presence of live cold-water corals of the species Desmophyllum pertusum (syn. Lophelia pertusa). The area is situated in a constriction of the southern end of the Koster trough. The exact coordinates are available in the publication in which the datasets were used.
